Being physically active is a key part of optimal health, and while it’s important to stay active throughout the year, summer is filled with opportunities to get moving. Here are five tips for an active summer!
Beat the heat.
It can be hard to enjoy outdoor workouts when it’s hot outside! If you live in a hot climate, exercising in the morning or the evening when it’s cooler outside will help you get the most out of your workouts. No matter what time you’re exercising, make sure you drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. Fun is a great option because it features electrolytes for optimal hydration!
Get the whole family involved.
Being active as a family is a great way to help everyone stay healthy, and there are a lot of fun activities you can do in the summer. You could take your family to the park to play a game of catch, go on a hike, swim at a local pool, take a family bike ride, or any other activity that your family will enjoy doing together.
Have active summer parties.
A lot of people have parties during the summer, and they’re great opportunities to be active. For example, if you’re having a barbecue, have some outdoor activities planned, too. Something as simple as tossing a Frisbee around the backyard will encourage everyone to be active, and as a bonus, everyone will have a lot of fun!
There are a lot of ways to be active, so don’t be afraid to think outside of the box. Anything that gets you moving is a success! For example, you may not think of going to the zoo or to a museum as exercise, but all of that walking definitely counts as being active. Getting creative with your physical activities will help you make this a summer to remember.
If it’s hot outside, swimming, paddle boarding, or kayaking are great options because the water will help you stay cool during your physical activity. Whether you’re planning to go to a pool, lake, or the ocean, make sure you use sunscreen and bring plenty of cold water and your favorite Yoli drinks to stay hydrated!
